Why Giving and Generosity?
Seek First the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness
31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. —Matthew 6:31–33
God will take care of you. He knows what you need; He knows what tomorrow holds, and He loves you very much. His promise of provision has given you the freedom to take self-preservation off the throne of your life and instead focus on the kingdom of God. When you do that, you trade anxiety for peace. Days previously weighed down with the pressure of self-reliance are exchanged for confident enthusiasm over what the Lord will do next.
PRAY
Thank You for supplying all my needs. I commit today to Your Kingdom and Your purposes in my life. I want to be a part of what You’re doing in my church and community; please use me. I trust You with my today and tomorrow.
ACT
Offer a prayer of thanksgiving before your dinner this evening. Whether eating with family, friends or alone, declare God’s goodness out loud, praise Him for His great love, and thank Him for His provision. Ask Him for the courage to sacrifice for the kingdom, knowing He will always supply your every need. Pray for the success of the PROCLAIM initiative.
