Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. To qualify for booking the facilities as a member, you must have been a member of the church a minimum of three months prior to submitting a request for a wedding date. The bride, groom or their parents may book the facilities for a wedding. Non-members must meet the criteria of a Prestonwood wedding and may discuss booking a wedding by contacting the Wedding Ministry Office at 972-820-5037.

We have several important criteria for couples desiring to be married at Prestonwood. To be married at our church, both the bride and groom must be born-again believers, and couples cannot be currently living together. It is the desire of the Prestonwood staff that every couple follows the biblical guidelines of marriage as they prepare for their marriage. We ask our couples to have premarital counseling either by the minister who is performing the ceremony or by attending a pre-marriage class. We have a pre-marriage class at Prestonwood, Before You Say, “I Do,” which is offered several times during the year. You can find information on our website at prestonwood.org/bysid regarding registration, dates and times the class is offered.

Due to the vast number of events and ministries that take place in our church, we can take reservations for the facilities no more than 12 months in advance for members and non-members. We do not keep a waiting list or receive applications earlier than 12 months before the desired date of a wedding.

Weddings are scheduled in Faith Chapel at the following times:

  • 10:00 a.m.
  • 2:00 p.m.
  • 6:00 p.m.

There are two contract options.

  • 4-Hour Contract: Couples have two hours prior to their wedding time for pre-service preparation and seating of guests. They have two hours following the start of their wedding ceremony, post wedding photos and removal of personal items will take place during this time. If more time is needed before or after the service, the request is to be discussed with the Director of Weddings prior to scheduling. Additional fees may apply. A wedding rehearsal will typically occur the day before the wedding and will last approximately one hour.

  • 5-Hour Contract: Couples have two hours prior to their wedding time for pre-service preparation and seating of guests. They have three hours following the start of their wedding ceremony, post wedding photos and removal of personal items will take place during this time. If more time is needed before or after the service, the request is to be discussed with the Director of Weddings prior to scheduling. Additional fees may apply. A wedding rehearsal will typically occur the day before the wedding and will last approximately one and a half hours.

The wedding rehearsal usually occurs the day before the wedding and lasts approximately one hour. Weddings are not scheduled on Sundays, during churchwide events, on holiday weekends or the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. For weddings that do not take place in Faith Chapel, please discuss your requests with the Director of Weddings.

To schedule a wedding at Prestonwood, contact the Director of Weddings to schedule a tour and complete the Wedding Application. Send the application to the church with a non-refundable application deposit of $200 that will be included in your facilities fees. Upon receipt, your application will be submitted for staff and calendar approval. After your wedding date has been confirmed, an appointment will be set with the Director of Weddings to discuss church policies and procedures.

Our Prestonwood ministers perform wonderful wedding ceremonies. However, we do permit ministers who are not on the staff to officiate weddings. All outside ministers must be evangelical, ordained ministers of like faith and practice. Neal Jeffrey, Associate Pastor, calls each minister who is not on the Prestonwood staff to confirm his participation. Couples are expected to meet with their officiating minister prior to the wedding. If the officiating minister is not on the Prestonwood staff, you may be required to also meet with a Prestonwood minister.

Wedding ceremonies should be worshipful celebrations and expressions of your Christian faith. All ceremonies should follow a traditional Christian format, consistent with worship practices at Prestonwood.

Music used in your ceremony should glorify and honor God and reflect the message of Jesus Christ and His love. The content and lyrics of the music you choose should give a biblical understanding of Christian commitment and service and the significance of Christian marriage. Song selections, specifically for special music within the ceremony, must give testimony to God, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit, etc. and communicate the message of Christian faith. Lyrics of your vocal song selections may be requested for approval. Secular music will not be approved for wedding ceremonies.

Prestonwood has several wonderful areas for wedding receptions. Because of limited space, they are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, and there is an additional fee required for a reception at the church. Receptions will need to be catered by outside full service caterers. Please ask the Director of Weddings which rooms will best fit your needs and accommodate the number of expected wedding guests.

Prestonwood does not host rehearsal dinners for couples getting married at our church. There are wonderful restaurants in the immediate area that are able to accommodate all sizes of wedding parties. Please contact the Wedding Ministry for suggested locations.

All couples are expected to participate in Before You Say, “I Do,” a course designed for engaged couples and those considering marriage. Due to the many activities scheduled at Prestonwood each day and the personnel that would be required for a bridal portrait sitting, it is not possible for bridal portraits to be taken at the church.

We love working with outside wedding planners and work together to make sure the day of your wedding is exactly as you have dreamed!

The Prestonwood wedding coordinator assigned to your wedding will meet with the bride and groom several weeks before your wedding to finalize the details for the ceremony. We will use these details to facilitate the rehearsal the night before the wedding and the wedding the following day. Our coordinator will be responsible for going through the flow of the ceremony with the pastor, line up the wedding party and give instructions to the family members escorted in during the seating of the families. Any cues for A/V, musicians, pastor, Scripture readers, etc. will be handled by our Wedding Coordinator at the rehearsal. We will have time to run through everything twice at the rehearsal. If the outside wedding planner is at the rehearsal, we would be happy to have him or her assist as needed.

We give your outside wedding planner time at the end of the rehearsal to go through any of the pre-ceremony details with the bridal party to make sure everyone is ready for the big day!

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide any childcare services.

The original non-refundable deposit can be made in any of three forms of payment:

  • Cash
  • Check made payable to Prestonwood Baptist Church
  • Online credit or debit card (The Wedding Ministry will invoice you for this online payment.)

Contact our church offices @ 972-820-5000 and ask the receptionist to connect you to the Adult Ministry Office. Tell them you are trying to secure a minister to perform your wedding.

All honorariums to pastors are paid directly to the individual pastor.

The honorarium is not included in your fees to use the Prestonwood facilities.
