Special Friends ministers to children, students and adults, focusing on the unique strengths of each individual to allow for spiritual growth so that they may come to know Jesus Christ. We believe everyone has an ability to “Love God, Love People, Do Your Best, and Have Fun!” Our classes and activities are designed to cultivate a student’s desire for a Savior and to develop his or her faith. Our Special Friends can worship, grow, and serve as a part of the Prestonwood family.
If you are new to the Special Friends Ministry, welcome! There’s no need to pre-register, but if you would like to share information before your first visit, please fill out this form.
Be sure to check out our ministry on Facebook! See you there!
The Special Friends Ministry is located in the Saunders Children’s Building on the Plano Campus and is constantly growing to meet the physical as well as the spiritual needs of our Special Friends.
LifeGroup Bible Studies are provided during both Sunday Worship Services. Children, students and adults with special needs are welcome to participate in any of the programs at Prestonwood. In each ministry area, we strive to allow each student to participate as independently as possible.
We also have an amazing Special Friends Suite, which is located in the Saunders Children’s Building. The Special Friends Suite offers LifeGroups during both services for children, students and adults who have special needs, offering a time of worship and Bible study to meet the needs of each individual.
Respite (a time of fun, worship and Bible study provided for Special Friends of all ages and their siblings while their parents get a much-needed break) is in the Special Needs Suite.
If you have questions, please contact Sara Pickrell at 972-820-5468 or [email protected].
It is our desire to come alongside special needs families through relationships, prayer, and support. The Special Needs Ministry hosts meals for parents periodically throughout the year. Each luncheon or dinner will feature a speaker chosen to inspire and educate, and you’ll have time to visit with other parents and share ideas. Meals are provided for adults and children.
With age-appropriate classes specially designed for our children, students and adults, our Special Friends will engage in a time of worship, Bible study and activity reinforcement.
Special Friends Midweek Bible Study meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. is held in the Special Needs Suite in the Saunders Children’s Ministry Building.

We are a dynamic congregation, with people from all over the North Texas region who have come together for a common purpose—to study God’s Word, to worship Him, to do His work, and to reach the world with the Gospel message.
We unapologetically value six core areas in the life of our church. Together, these shared values identify who we are, rally us toward all that we desire to accomplish, and unite us in fellowship.
