We are just days away from Christmas and I bet you have a few gifts you are wrapping. We caught up with Marchelle Michel with @marchelleseasonaldecor for some of her tips on making our gift a little more special.

Wrapping Tips

  • Start with good quality paper, too thin and it might tear!
  • If you can find paper with gridlines will help you cut that straight line.
  • When folding over, take your paper all the way to the edge and don’t stop in the middle.
  • As you fold the edges of the boxes, take you index finger and thumb and glide it across for a creased edge.
  • You can also give the paper a little tug to ensure that you don’t have any rippling.
  • Double sided tape is great option for the seamless look.
  • Add Personal touches with Ribbon, a small ornament, or even a Bell!

We did a quick search and found some other fun wrapping ideas. Check them out!

Have fun wrapping those gifts and Merry Christmas!

We love some good Bible trivia and were so surprised by some of the specifics of the Christmas Story that we didn’t know as well as we thought.

Basic Sugar Cookie Recipe

Icing Recipe

Bethany’s Tips:

  • Place cookies under a fan while they dry to achieve smooth and shiny icing
  • Use an adjustable rolling pin to roll out cookie dough to desired thickness
  • Roll your dough out on parchment paper while cutting out shapes to help keep their form when transferring to baking sheet.
  • Use spray bottle when adding water to royal icing when making the “flood icing”. That way you don’t add too much water at a time and come out with a very thin and watered down icing!
  • Know that cookie decorating takes a lot of trial and error and to just HAVE FUN while making them! Any mess ups can always be eaten 🙂

We are all looking for ways to keep our little ones busy during the Christmas break. Make sure you are using this time to have great conversations with your kids, they have a lot to say.

Paper Chains are one of the easiest crafts with young kids. You can count down all month long or just a few days.

Supplies

  • Scissors, Kid friendly if possible
  • Red and Green Paper, or really any combination will do
  • Tape or a glue stick

Tip: Write down a scripture on each strip of paper and read it aloud as each day passes, or you can write a family member or friends name on them and say a prayer.

Garland Supplies

  • Baking Cups- 3 types
  • String, ribbon or twine
  • Scissors
  • Needle and or something sharp to make the holes.

Have fun with this and use festive baking or just leftovers. These can also be fun party decorations. Our Tip is to tape the ends of the ribbon so that it doesn’t fray while stringing the cups through.
