Metro, an energy-packed worship experience where Young Singles and College Students can get recharged each week, launched Sunday evening, Sept. 14 in the Student Worship Building. The 352 singles at this first Metro event had the opportunity to “come as they are” and hang out with their friends.
The weekly Metro experience includes worship with Jared Wood, Minister of Student Worship.
At the Metro launch, Jared led worship with such songs as “Hosanna” and his own “Hallelujah,” a song he penned two years ago about God’s people singing to the holiness of God.
Associate Pastor/Young Singles Jarrett Stephens, the weekly communicator for Metro, teaches with a knowledge and a passion to see lives changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He began an eight-part series called Glimpse, about taking a look at our Lord in action through the eyes of John the disciple.
Of the more than 300 singles attending the first Metro experience, two were baptized and three made professions of faith during the time of worship.
Metro places an extremely high value on biblical community and weekly small group participation as an outgrowth of the Sunday night service. “We believe that life is best lived with a group of believers that celebrate your victories and walk with you through your defeats,” Metro leaders say.
