A spiritual battle is raging and, as believers, we are right
in the middle of this invisible war. Satan is an insidious
enemy—his power is dangerous and destructive. He is
a roaring lion seeking all those whom he may devour.
In the last days, this fight will intensify. But the good
news is we are promised victory over all the works of
the Enemy, and we are given spiritual weapons to win
the war with sin, death and Hell.
Revelation 12:11-12 speaks clearly of our
victory and the resources we are given to
overcome Satan. Notice what God’s Word says:
And they have conquered him by the blood of the
Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they
loved not their lives even unto death. Therefore,
rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them!
But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has
come down to you in great wrath, because he
knows that his time is short!
There is a threefold provision for victory.
1 The Believer’s Redemption
We overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb.
Jesus defeated the Devil at the Cross. The
powerful blood of Jesus breaks the power of
sin and makes it possible for us to be forgiven
forever. As 1 John 1:7 says “the blood of Jesus
his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
We have victory over sin and Satan when we
confess our sins and claim God’s forgiveness
in Christ. The Devil defeats us if we live in sin
and practice disobedience. We must search
our hearts, repent, and receive His grace. We
have to be vigilant about not allowing Satan a
foothold (Ephesians 4:27) or a place to
operate in our lives. That’s why it’s so vital that
we stay clean and live in the purity of holiness.
2 The Believer’s Confession
We overcome by the “word of our testimony.”
When we speak of Jesus’ grace and power in
our lives, we are defending ourselves against
all the assaults of Satan and extinguishing the
fiery darts that assail us. Jesus is Lord. So let me
ask you, do you know Him? Then confess Him
and speak often of His love in your life. You are
His beloved, called and chosen to be His child.
You are not a victim, but a victor, overcoming
and never overcome. Consider the psalmist’s
words in Psalm 107:2: “Let the redeemed of the
Lord say so.”
3 The Believer’s Protection
You may be facing extreme opposition, even
persecution, because you are a follower of the
Lamb. Suffering is a very real possibility for
every Christian. But we win in life and death
because of the confidence we have in Christ.
“They loved not their lives unto death.” We
can face a certain future because death is
defeated and we will live in the presence of our
Blessed Savior forever. No matter what trials or
tribulations we may face, we can live without
fear because of the hope we have in Him.
Will you tell the story confidently and
courageously until He comes for you? Ask God
to bring someone across your path to share
this story with today ... and tomorrow ... and
the next day. You will celebrate your victory
throughout eternity.
