Prestonwood Pregnancy Center is a faith-based non-profit organization providing guidance, education and selected medical services to women and families in unplanned pregnancies.
History
The vision for Prestonwood Pregnancy Center emerged years before Pastor Jack Graham came to Prestonwood in 1989. As pastor of First Baptist Church, West Palm Beach, Fla., in the early ‘80s, Pastor Graham remembers preaching against abortion one Sunday and hearing God ask, “What are you going to do about it?” LifeCare Pregnancy Resource Center grew out of that challenge, and when Pastor Graham relocated to Texas, he was passionate about beginning a similar center. Teaching Pastor David McKinley and others worked alongside him to begin what Pastor Graham calls a “Jesus ministry.” Prestonwood Pregnancy Center has served more than 36,000 clients since it opened in 1991.
Support
As a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the pregnancy center is able to provide all services at no charge only through the generosity of its faithful supporters. If you are interested in giving or would like to learn about our Friends for Life Fellowship program, please call 972-386-4015 ext. 204 or e-mail hhuber@prestonwood.org.
Volunteers
Prestonwood Pregnancy Center is always looking for willing volunteers, both male and female. If you speak Spanish, we need you! If you are interested in serving at the center or resale store, please check out the opportunities below. You can call 972-386-4015 for more information. We would love for you to join this ministry!
- Client Advocate – Each advocate meets with clients in primarily unplanned pregnancies to help meet their spiritual, emotional and material needs. Client advocates work one three- to four-hour shift per week. A training program, consisting of two Saturday classroom sessions offered three times per year, is required.
- Medical Support – Sonographers, nurses and physicians are needed in our medical area to administer pregnancy tests and provide sonograms.
Also, a qualified instructor to teach a childbirth preparation class is needed.
- Continuing Education Class Facilitators – Continuing Education classes are offered to help educate our clients on a variety of subjects. These classes generally consist of a video series, group interaction and discussion led by the facilitator. Our classes cover the categories of parenting, CPR for infants, relationships and spiritual growth.
- Support Group Facilitator – Individuals who have had a personal experience with the subject matter or have a heart to minister in the following areas typically lead our support groups:
- Post-Abortion Recovery for Women
- Post-Abortion Recovery for Men
- Abuse Recovery
- Pregnancy Loss
- Exploring Options (provides guidance on single parenting and adoption)
- Prestonwood Upscale Resale – Volunteers are needed to sort, organize and stock clothing and other items donated to the store.
