Art Osborne

Art Osborne, better known as “Mr. Bandman,” is an award-winning published author, composer and educator living in Dallas, Texas. In 1972, he received a bachelor of music education degree from the University of North Texas. Some of his music awards were presented to him by such prestigious organizations as ASCAP (American Society for Composers, Artists and Publishers), The American Songwriter Contest and the West Virginia Fine Arts Commission.

In 1973–74, he worked in Nashville, Tenn., with Robert Keeshan, better known to the world as “Captain Kangaroo.” While there, he was the resident composer/lyricist for a children’s television show funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

During his next 33 years, he was part of the music ministry of Christ for the Nations (five years), Kenneth Copeland Ministries (four years), Word of Faith Church Dallas, 10 years with the music ministry team of First Family Church, Dallas, and is currently an associate pastor of The Winner’s Edge Church in Garland.

During this time, Mr. Osborne has also been successfully writing music for albums, CDs, television, and live production shows. In 1999, he accepted a position in elementary music education with the Dallas Independent School District.

Mr. Osborne teaches saxophone, clarinet and flute. He also has become increasingly aware of the need to find and develop a fun, exciting way to inspire young children to become involved in music. As a result, he has created the delightful, educational character of “Mr. Bandman.” With this charming character as its centerpiece, he has developed the television series, Adventures with Mr. Bandman. Based upon his years of valuable experience and an abiding desire to enrich the lives of children, Art Osborne has fashioned a program that promises to be wholesome, motivating and spiritually inspirational to young children across our global community.
