Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

Step 1: Sign Up
Look through the classes being offered. Classes meet on Wednesday nights. Sign up for the classes you want to take by clicking the Register link. Once you complete the online registration form, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.

Step 2: Pick Up a QuickPass Card
In order to check in to a class, a QuickPass card is needed. Previously issued cards (e.g., one issued through Children’s Ministry), will work. If you do not have a card, please click here to see the dates and locations to obtain one.

Step 3: Attend
You will find the dates, time and location of the class you signed up for by following the links to the schedule of classes. Note: If your class requires a book, you are encouraged to purchase it before your class begins.

Step 4: Record
Once you complete a class, record the information on your personal LLI Chart. By doing this, you will be able to measure your progress as you take more classes.

Step 5: Stay Balanced
You can choose any class you would like, but we encourage you to stay balanced. If you take a Leadership class this semester, you can stay balanced by taking a class in the Life section next semester.

What is a QuickPass Card?
LLI uses the QuickPass system for participants to check in to classes. This system allows a maximal amount of time for teaching and uses a minimal amount of time for administrative duties. The QuickPass system also helps to maintain participants’ privacy since information is not printed on a paper form that can be seen by others as they check in.

How do I fill in the LLI Chart?
Every class is assigned a category. First, it is either Life or Leadership. It is then assigned a section (i.e. Life Essentials, Life Relationships, Life Management; and Leadership Foundations, Leadership Skills, Leadership Engagement). If the class is assigned to Life Essentials, for example, you should record the class under the Life Essentials section.

What do these sections represent?
The main sections of LLI are Life Essentials, Life Relationships, Life Management; and Leadership Foundations, Leadership Skills, Leadership Engagement. Every class that is offered in the LLI is assigned to one of these sections. Each section depicts an important component of the main category it falls under (i.e., Life Essentials is the section in Life where classes on prayer, personal reflection, and other essentials fall.)

Can I change the category the class is assigned to already?
No. If the class is assigned to Leadership Foundations, it can only be entered as Leadership Foundations.

Am I supposed to complete all of Life Essentials before I move on to Life Relationships, or can I take whatever class I want?
We encourage you to take a variety of classes. One of the goals of LLI is to offer a balanced approach in teaching. So, you are encouraged to take a variety of classes. In fact, we suggest that you alternate by taking a class in one of the Life sections and then your next class in one of the Leadership sections.

How can I keep track of the classes I have taken?
You can print out a blank LLI Chart online, or pick up one when you are at Prestonwood. As you take classes, you will record them on the chart.

If I lose my LLI Chart will I have to start over?
No. We have records of the classes you have taken. If you lose your chart, call our office and we will remind you of the classes you have taken.

Do I have to pay anything to participate?
No. Classes are completely free. There are some classes offered that utilize a book. However, books cost no more than $20.

Will the same classes be offered every semester?
Maybe. The three main semesters (spring, summer and fall) never offer an identical class schedule. However, there may be a class that is taught both in the spring and in the fall. As a standard though, new classes are offered every semester.

Where can I purchase the book that is required for my class?
The books can be purchased online or at the Prestonwood Bookstores. Since you are a part of the LLI, you receive a 20 percent discount if you purchase them either online or at the Prestonwood Bookstores.

Can I come just one week and receive credit for taking the class?
No. For a six-week class, you must be present for at least four of the classes. For a three-week class, you must be present for at least two classes.

Will the Chapel Connection continue to meet while LLI is going on?
Yes. We will continue to have dynamic worship and relevant teaching in The Chapel.

What are electives?
Electives can be used two different ways:
1. Any book study (e.g., study of Colossians) will be an elective.
2. If you fill all five of your blanks in a section (i.e., Leadership Foundations) and another class comes out in that section you want to take, since there are only five blanks for each of the main sections (look at your LLI Chart), you can count that class as an elective.

I want to take a class on a certain topic, but it is not offered. Can I request that a class be taught next semester?
Certainly. All requests for new class topics are welcome. You may call or e-mail us and let us know. However, just because a request is made does not guarantee that a class will be taught.

Do I have to be a member of Prestonwood to participate in LLI?
No. Anyone is welcome to participate in LLI classes.

Do you have childcare available on Wednesday nights while I'm in class?
Yes, childcare is available on Wednesday nights.
