"Tell the Story: The Blessings of Marriage" Retreat

Thirty-five couples, ranging in years-married from one to 68, renewed their vows June 13 and 14, pledging their love for each other and acknowledging the call of God upon their lives in the special “Tell the Story: The Blessings of Marriage” retreat. Held right here at Prestonwood’s Chapel, the program represented 1,697 years of marriage and was not only a blessing to the couples involved, but telling the story of God’s provision blessed families and visitors alike!

More than 300 people participated, and the testimonies and wonderful stories shared during the two-day event encouraged everyone present. Neal Jeffrey officiated and also spoke during the conference session. He was simply terrific in touching the hearts and memories of us all. “From sappy to crusty” is a phrase we will all remember (and strive to stay on the right side of that equation) as we continue to walk down the Road of Life together with our mates and the Lord Jesus Christ!  

Charles Pendley, Kim Markuly and Kyle Peters did an outstanding job in organizing the special event and were, as always, a blessing to everyone involved, especially me. Jane Hughes, Tracie Clines, Trisha Harbus and Marcia Duniven from the wedding ministry provided beautiful flow and symmetry to the service. Sondra Saunders’ presentation to Gerald and Eldora Chambers for their faithfulness in caring for their special needs son caused all participants to check their willingness to sacrifice for the needs of others in Christian service!  

Watch for this event to become a yearly special, because we are all rejoicing in God’s wonderful blessing on the retreat, our lives and our church.
