Preschool

Base Camp

The Preschool Ministry is an integral part of Prestonwood Baptist Church. It is a cooperative effort between the church and the home, utilizing the efforts of both parents and the church body to effectively reach the children of our community with the message of Jesus Christ.

The AIM of our ministry is Christ-centered. We desire to help parents in building strong, spiritual foundations in the lives of children to lead them into a personal and dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ.

The PROGRAM of our ministry is centered on the child. Our ministry focuses on the spiritual, relational, physical and mental needs of the child, and all programming is designed to encourage growth in these areas. Our focus is not on the program, but on people.

Our METHODOLOGY is experienced-based. Our ministry is not based on passive learning. Rather, it involves children in the learning process through questioning, discovering, and evaluating.

Our MATERIAL is Bible-based. We believe that the Word of God is the answer to the needs in our lives and is practical to today's child and adult. Our curriculum is designed to help children develop a love for God's Word, discover what the Bible says, and learn how to apply that truth to their lives.

Our FACILITIES provide an environment that stimulates learning. Our classroom design, furnishings and educational equipment keep in mind the appropriate age group characteristics for the children in that particular room.

Our STAFF is comprised of people who have trusted Christ as their personal Savior and desire to share the love of Jesus with our children. We provide the materials, curriculum, facilities and proper training to equip our staff to successfully accomplish their goals.

What to Expect:

A Warm and Secure Welcome
As you and your preschooler approach our Children's Building, you will both be greeted by our security team at the information booth. At the QuickPass check-in kiosks, you will receive a nametag for your child and a corresponding receipt for yourself. You will then enter into a world focused on teaching preschoolers Biblical truths. Once children are signed in at the age-appropriate classroom, they will enter into a positive experience of learning and fun planned just for them.

Activity Centers
Preschoolers are encouraged to participate in opening activities such as building with blocks, coloring a picture, working a puzzle, preparing a pretend meal, or reading a book. The teacher will use these activities to reinforce each weekend's Biblical truth.

Teaching Art Project
The children will create an art project to help reinforce the focus and theme of the lesson. Encourage your child to show you his or her craft and discuss the Bible verse and story.

Playground
For 15 minutes, your child will get to release some energy on one of our age appropriate indoor/outdoor playgrounds.

Snack
A snack is provided for your preschooler during Bible Fellowship. The snack traditionally consists of butter cookies and apple juice. Please inform your child's teacher of any allergies during the sign-in process. Allergy Alert stickers are also available for your preschooler to wear.

Gathering for Group Time
Each classroom will have fun with songs, finger plays or games to help the preschoolers prepare for story time. Prayer is always a part of our group time.

Story Time
Your child's teacher will tell the Bible story in a clear and meaningful way that is easy for preschoolers to understand. They will learn basic biblical truths they can apply to their preschool world. A Bible verse is always used to emphasize the theme and focus of the lesson. Pictures are often used by the teacher to tell the story, and brightly painted murals of favorite Bible stories are displayed on the walls of our Children's Building. These are used on a regular basis to help a Bible story come to life.

Heading Home
When you pick up your child from class, the teacher will help gather your child's belongings, art work, and take-home page. The teacher will check your receipt and your child's nametag for a match before releasing the preschooler into your care.

"Family Time Take-Home Page"
Each child will receive an age-appropriate activity page that includes the week's Bible story, Bible verse and a related activity. You can read the story and the Bible verse with your child to help them understand the lesson and the verse. Save the “Family Time Take-Home Page” and use it during the week. This interaction with your child can be very rewarding for both of you.
